About Shall We Talk. Shall We Walk
Recently, Hong Kong has witnessed increasing numbers of youth suicide incident, highlighting an urgent mental health crisis among adolescents. It is imperative that our society takes a more proactive stance in addressing and responding to the mental health needs of youth.
Still, the landscape of youth mental health services faces significant hurdles as many adolescents are reluctant to seek help due to the fear of stigmatization and concerns about privacy. Moreover, the existing mental health services and resources within our community are fragmented and disjointed. Even when youths want to reach out for support, the complicated application processes and a lack of coherent information, leading to confusion and hesitant, further increasing barriers to seeking help.
As the largest organisation providing youth services in Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (HKFYG) is dedicated to the holistic development of youth and making it a cornerstone of our service initiatives. This year, we launched the "Shall We Talk·Shall We Walk" project to address the mental health needs of youth. The project primarily targets youths experiencing mild to moderate mental health distress. It offers a user-friendly, "one-click" emotional support service that is timely and user-led, encouraging young people to seek help, and we also hope to achieve the goal of accompany youth on their journey, together we can "Talk and Walk" towards holistic health.
